Mrs Carol Adams
Senior Teaching Assistant and ELSA
As Senior Teaching Assistant (TA), part of my role is to manage and develop the TA team at Horsendale. I work alongside the SENCo and Pupil Premium Manager to allocate the TAs to various classes based on the needs of the children.
My role involves me working in various classes. I act as a role model for the TA team by sharing and developing my TA practice. I support other staff in the day-to-day deployment of our TAs. I help coordinate our lunchtime and after-school provision, manage TA students and our parent volunteers.
I regularly take part in local Senior TA Networks to ensure the team at Horsendale are aware of any new developments that link to their role and at the moment I am working with other colleagues to set up a TA Network for the Trust to develop and share good practice and knowledge.
As ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant), I work with various children to help them recognise, understand and manage their emotions. This involves me planning and delivering individual targeted support depending on the needs of the child. I work and support the parents of these children as required. As an ELSA I receive ongoing training and supervision from Educational Psychologists, once every half term.
