Dear Parents/Carers of our Reception and Year 1 children,
I would like to invite you to our Parents phonics workshop which will be held on Thursday 7th October between 2.45 – 3.10pm in the school hall. Please arrive via the main office entrance where you will asked to sign in for our fire register.
Reading is a fundamental life skill. At Horsendale Primary School we follow the Letters and Sounds approach to teaching phonics on the journey to your child becoming a fluent reader.
Phonics teaching begins in the Autumn term of reception and this is built upon as your child moves into Year 1.
Our parent workshop will be focused on:
What is phonics?
How does my child learn phonics at Horsendale?
How can I support at home?
How does phonics impact on decodable reading books?
I hope that you can attend this session to find out more about how we teach phonics and ways that you can support your child at home to become a fluent reader.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
